MEDVEDEV SIGNS LAW ON COMMERATION DATES
MOSCOW, April 11 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has signed the federal law on changes to Article Eleven of the Federal Law on Days of Military Glory and Memorable Dates in Russia, which was passed by the State Duma on March 27, 2009, and approved by the Federation Council on April 1, the Kremlin press service said on Saturday.

The new version of Article Eleven sets the following memorable dates to be observed in the Russian Federation:

January 25 -- Day of Russian Students,

April 12 -- Cosmonautics Day,

June 22 -- Day of Memory and Mourning -- the Great Patriotic War beginning date (1941),

June 29 -- Day of Partisans and Underground Members,

September 3 -- Day of Solidarity in Fight against Terrorism,

November 7 -- Day of the 1917 October Revolution,

December 9 -- Day of Heroes of the Fatherland,

December 12 -- Day of the Constitution of the Russian Federation.

The federal law comes into force from January 1, 2010.

Thus, Day of Partisans and Underground Members, Day of Solidarity in Fight against Terrorism and Day of the October Revolution of 1917 are set down in the law as commemoration dates from 2010.
